    Inauguration of an assembly line for analogue/digital movements of the gauge of known as ETA. Extension of the electronics and quartz movement production division.

    Acquisition and transformation of the former Bulova building in Biel-Bienne. Development of watches with moon phase and zodiacal sign indicators, based on quartz technology.

    Basel 87 (World Watch Hall), Launch of the Royal Gold Collection. Candino launches a watch featuring a compass.

  • 1988

    Development and manufacture of the first high-tech, two-tone ceramic watch. The watch case and integrated strap are made of ultra-modern, ultra-strong material: Innotec.

  • 1989

    The Herbetswil production area was extended to 1,600 m². A computerized warehouse system is established. Development of a gentleman’s watch with the world’s smallest mechanical altimeter.

  • 1990

    Manufacture of a watch with light from an independent power supply, thanks to a second slimline lithium battery.

  • 1994

    Development of a reserve module with 2 independent time-zones regulated by a single crown: ETA 2892 movement.

  • 1996

    Candino becomes Official Timekeeper Davidoff Swiss Indoors Tennis Tournament in Basel.

  • 1998

    Agreement with Redbull Sauber-Petronas Formula 1 team.

    Global advertising campaign with model “Adonis”.

  • 2002

    Candino Swiss Watch joins the Festina Lotus S.A. group. New ceramic model with steel heart, “Ceraline”.

  • 2003

    Extension of contract with Davidoff Swiss Indoors Tennis Tournament between Miguel Rodriguez, President of the Festina Group, and Roger Brennwald, Chairman of the tournament. Candino enters the world of regattas. The brand becomes the official partner of Stève Ravussin and the trimaran Banque Covefi (until 2005). Candino becomes Official Timekeeper of the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris-Bercy.

    New international advertising campaign with the slogan “Timing your own challenge”.

    Candino patented its new protection for crowns.

  • 2005

    Candino, Official Timekeeper of the Nordic Skiing World Championships in Oberstdorf, Germany.

  • 2006

    Candino has the honour to time the first win by Roger Federer in his hometown, at the Davidoff Swiss Indoors in Basel.

  • 2007

    Candino celebrates its 60th anniversary. Candino takes part in the Basel World Watch Fair for the 50th time. Xenia Tchoumitcheva, a Swiss model of Russian origin, is the new ambassador of Candino.

  • 2010

    Sponsor of PlanetSolar, the first catamaran to make a circumnavigation powered only by solar energy. 100 PlanetSolar Sport Collection automatic watches, created by Candino to commemorate this ecological journey, were on board.

    Marilyn Monroe and James Dean star in the new international Candino print campaign.
